Hands up those of you who've ever attempted yoga with kids or cats nearby?! Nigh on impossible to find a flow, but probably even nicer than going solo, I reckon. I love having Ajax and Snowdrop purring around my feet, and Meg climbing on me and trying to slide down my legs while I'm doing downward dog!
There's a delicious wholesome feeling having the family involved when you're doing what you love. Knowing that they see and appreciate the benefits and want to be part of it. I'm so grateful to have them close by. As Meg matures, she's taking on the lessons more and more. She's not one to be pushed into anything (!) so I've had to develop more subtle ways to get her interested. I ask her to come up with her own poses for me to try, let her adjust me, tell me where I'm going right. She'd make a great instructor. She's so kind and patient (most of the time!). Here she is doing a wonderful job... The cats just want to be fed again I reckon ;) Happy new year to you all!
I'm really looking forward to getting back on the mat this year - so much so, I'm bringing our 'back to yoga' date forward to tomorrow night - yay! Classes are drop in - so if you're planning on starting next week, don't worry. Classes don't have a structure as such across the term or year. Every class brings something a bit different to the last. I'm just itching to get back on the mat with you all. FEES At least for the next month or so, class prices will remain as they have for a couple of years: $18 per casual session $80 for five classes $140 for ten classes But from 1st March, there needs to be a wee increase, to meet the cost of living and fuel price rises, to the new fees of: $20 per casual session $90 for five classes $150 for ten classes Don't forget, you DON'T have to take those classes consecutively! Actually, the passes are valid for up to a year from purchase. Though it's best all round if you squeeze in as much yoga into your life as possible! WHAT'S THIS YOGA THING ALL ABOUT THEN? Not sure what to expect? Call me for a chat, or have a look at the Classes section of the website. I try and make these classes a good experience! I want everyone finishing the session happier and lighter and more grounded than when they arrived. I'm not the kind of person to force anyone into doing anything they're not comfortable with! I'm also very hands-off, particularly since Covid, but my feeling has always been that I should be able to use my words, not my hands to help you into a good position for your body (and mind!). IN PERSON OR ZOOM? Classes are run every Tuesday at 7pm at the Attitude building on Fraser St, Clunes, but are also available to join in from your very own home! I use Zoom to stream the class to your lounge room and here's the link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZUsf-6rrz0iE9zuC-D4u3fHpOhp5chImV-T If you have any questions, I'm best reached via email (lilymason75@gmail.com), via Facebook messenger or by calling 0459 138 797 (though I live in a mobile blackspot, so please be patient!). Here's to a wonderful year for all. xx Lily Yoga is back in Clunes tomorrow night, Tuesday 8th! Yayer!
I will have to take the following fortnight off, unfortunately, with a bunch of stuff with the parentals scheduled while they're here. So here's my thinking for the rest of the year and into (gulp) 2023: Tuesday 8 Nov - YOGA! Tuesday 15 Nov - No yoga Tuesday 22 Nov - No yoga Tuesday 29 Nov - YOGA! Tuesday 6 Dec - YOGA! Tuesday 13 Dec - YOGA! Tuesday 20 Dec - YOGA! Tuesday 27 Dec - No yoga Tuesday 3 Jan - No yoga Tuesday 10 Jan - No yoga Tuesday 17 Jan - YOGA! Back for the year I know it's a bit choppy, but such is life. Flexibility is the key haha. Looking forward to seeing you all tomorrow night so I can introduce me mum! Zoom is available as usual: Register in advance for this meeting: https://us02web.zoom.us/.../tZUsf-6rrz0iE9zuC... After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. xxLily This year has seen much of the same stop-start as the previous two! But we've been back into the swing of regular classes for a month now, and I'm cautiously optimistic that this is the new normal!
In saying that, we do have a public holiday coming up so people can watch a horse race. I won't be partaking, but I will be taking advantage of the occasion to take a night off. In truth, my parents arrive from the UK at 6am the next day, so I want to head down to meet them. So please pop in your diary that there will be no yoga on Tuesday 1st November. I know it's a little while away, so I'll remind you again closer to the date. See you on the mat on Tuesdays! xx Lily
A few life changes happening this end, which means a bit of rescheduling of yoga classes. Classes will be face-to-face, with zoom option available, unless we go back into lockdown, when we'll go back to the zoom only option.
Clunes Hatha Tuesday 7pm Will continue as usual. Classes will resume face-to-face this week. Last class for this year will be Tuesday 21 December. We'll return on Tuesday 5 January, 2022! Miners Rest Hatha Friday 9.30am Classes will be fortnightly. Next class will be Friday 15 October. Last class for this year will be Friday 26 November. We will return Friday 8th January, 2022! Clunes Chair Yoga Friday 11.30am Will continue as usual. Classes will resume face-to-face this week. Last class for the year will be Friday 17 December. I will announce a return date later in the year once the schedule has been worked out with Attitude. Please note that masks must be worn, but can be removed if you're feeling breathless. Hand sanitiser is available in the foyer and please BYO mat/accessories! There are no changes to vaccine rules foreseen for this type of activity, but go get jabbed anyway, unless you have an exemption. Yoga for this week kicks off tonight in Clunes with a Hatha yoga session at 7pm at the Senior Citz on Fraser St. If you'd rather stay home and practice, the link to the Zoom session is at the bottom of this email.
Then we've got Friday morning Hatha - 9.30am in Miners Rest at the Community Hall. Following that, at 11.30am on Friday we have Chair Yoga starting up! If you have a mat, you can bring it, but we'll be focusing our session on the chair, so it won't be necessary to have one. Classes are Hatha-based yoga, which means we practice asanas (poses) alongside breathing exercises and meditation and relaxation. You'll find more info here and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask: http://www.lilymasonyoga.com/classes.html. Tonight's zoom link: https://us02web.zoom.us/meeting/register/tZMpcO6grzksE9AW2-sZBo9VZjCXwnCWVev0 After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting. I hope to see you on the mat/chair soon! xxLily A much-needed Chair yoga class is coming back to Clunes after a few years' hiatus. As part of the Attitude Club's offerings at the Senior Citizens Centre, Chair Yoga will be offered at very low cost for all participants from May to July thanks to Hepburn Shire's health and wellbeing program.
If you've never done chair yoga before, you'll be stunned by how much you can achieve on the chair! I have many years of teaching chair yoga under my belt and have seen some great results. I love the challenge of creating new classes each week for our regular sessions, and adding a chair to the mix inspires me to really get creative! The chair will be used to support our bodies to achieve many of the regular yoga asanas (poses). We'll do the usual breathing exercises and, of course, everybody's favourite: final relaxation. We'll see changes to our physical bodies (increase in strength and stamina, flexibility and range of movement), but also in other areas of life. Yoga increases our understanding of self, our breathing, our ability to sleep and assists us to cope with the stresses of life among many other mental health benefits. Chair yoga is great for those who are new to yoga or unable to participate in a traditional yoga class because of age, injury or disability. But we're open to everyone. All are welcome. The class will be run by Lily every Friday at 11.30am for 1 hour. There's no need to bring anything but yourself, wearing comfy clothes and maybe a water bottle and something warm to wrap yourself in for a relaxing finish. The cost of the session is very generously subsidised by Hepburn Shire Council for the next 16 weeks (from May 7th) via the Commonwealth home support program to deliver services to enable clients to remain living at home. This program will be funded from the Social Support program and participants are asked to contribute just $2 toward the cost of the class. No need to sign up, just turn up on the day. In short: Chair Yoga Beginning Friday 7 May at the Clunes Senior Citizens Centre, 25 Fraser St for 16 weeks. 11.30am- 12.30pm Cost: $2 Wear: Comfy clothes Equipment: Will be provided. No need for a yoga mat unless you want to lie down for final relaxation. Call or email if you have any questions: 0459 138 797 or lilymason75@gmail.com
