If you've never done chair yoga before, you'll be stunned by how much you can achieve on the chair! I have many years of teaching chair yoga under my belt and have seen some great results. I love the challenge of creating new classes each week for our regular sessions, and adding a chair to the mix inspires me to really get creative!
The chair will be used to support our bodies to achieve many of the regular yoga asanas (poses). We'll do the usual breathing exercises and, of course, everybody's favourite: final relaxation. We'll see changes to our physical bodies (increase in strength and stamina, flexibility and range of movement), but also in other areas of life. Yoga increases our understanding of self, our breathing, our ability to sleep and assists us to cope with the stresses of life among many other mental health benefits.
Chair yoga is great for those who are new to yoga or unable to participate in a traditional yoga class because of age, injury or disability. But we're open to everyone. All are welcome.
The class will be run by Lily every Friday at 11.30am for 1 hour. There's no need to bring anything but yourself, wearing comfy clothes and maybe a water bottle and something warm to wrap yourself in for a relaxing finish.
The cost of the session is very generously subsidised by Hepburn Shire Council for the next 16 weeks (from May 7th) via the Commonwealth home support program to deliver services to enable clients to remain living at home. This program will be funded from the Social Support program and participants are asked to contribute just $2 toward the cost of the class.
No need to sign up, just turn up on the day.
